Sandy sits along the Wasatch foothills in the east Salt Lake Valley, about a twenty-eight-minute drive from the Culmone Percussion studio. For Sandy families wanting a certified, experienced instructor, the drive is well worth it.
From America First Field and Hale Centre Theatre to the strong music programs at Jordan and Alta High, Sandy is a city with a genuine performance culture. Ken's decades of teaching help Sandy students of every age develop real technique and musicality, whether they're chasing a drumline spot or just want to play well.
Why Sandy students learn with Ken Culmone
Ken Culmone is a certified professional instructor who has taught drummers and percussionists ages 4 to 74 for more than 30 years, all from his own home studio, where he's the only person who privately teaches each student. His comprehensive program can earn Sandy students school percussion credits, band participation, solo-competition success, and often college scholarships.
Every lesson is one-on-one and built around his “instruction with a positive influence” philosophy: reading and notation, the 40 rudiments, sticking and pedaling, music theory, melodic improvisation, and playing along to real music. Parents from Sandy are always welcome to observe from the couch in the studio.
