Provo, the heart of Utah County and home to BYU, is about a twenty-eight-minute drive from the Culmone Percussion studio. As a BYU MPA graduate himself, Ken has deep roots in Provo's music community.
From the vibrant downtown music scene along Center Street to Provo Canyon's outdoor backdrop, Provo is a city that values the arts. Provo High and the surrounding schools maintain strong band programs, and Ken's decades of teaching help Provo students build the fundamentals that make those programs, and personal playing, click.
Why Provo students learn with Ken Culmone
Ken Culmone is a certified professional instructor who has taught drummers and percussionists ages 4 to 74 for more than 30 years, all from his own home studio, where he's the only person who privately teaches each student. His comprehensive program can earn Provo students school percussion credits, band participation, solo-competition success, and often college scholarships.
Every lesson is one-on-one and built around his “instruction with a positive influence” philosophy: reading and notation, the 40 rudiments, sticking and pedaling, music theory, melodic improvisation, and playing along to real music. Parents from Provo are always welcome to observe from the couch in the studio.
