Orem, 'Family City USA,' sits about twenty-two minutes south of the Culmone Percussion studio, and its family-first culture makes it a natural home for young musicians. Orem students have long been part of Ken's studio.

Home to Utah Valley University and the beloved SCERA arts center, Orem takes performance seriously, and Orem High's bands carry that tradition forward. Ken's approach of reading, rudiments, improvisation, and playing along to real music prepares Orem students for everything from school ensembles to their own garage band.

Why Orem students learn with Ken Culmone

Ken Culmone is a certified professional instructor who has taught drummers and percussionists ages 4 to 74 for more than 30 years, all from his own home studio, where he's the only person who privately teaches each student. His comprehensive program can earn Orem students school percussion credits, band participation, solo-competition success, and often college scholarships.

Every lesson is one-on-one and built around his “instruction with a positive influence” philosophy: reading and notation, the 40 rudiments, sticking and pedaling, music theory, melodic improvisation, and playing along to real music. Parents from Orem are always welcome to observe from the couch in the studio.
